Catharin began her studies at the University of the Republic of Uruguay in Montevideo. She completed her Architecture studies and obtained her Diploma at the Bauhaus University, Weimar in her native Germany, followed by her Master studies at Oxford Brookes University.
As project architect, Catharin was a member of the team responsible for the construction of a large office development at Fen Court in the City of London, a 15 storey office building with a publicly accessible roof garden. Catharin was responsible for the design and coordination of the main façade curtain wall system with its glazed terracotta fins.
The design and coordination of the public roof garden also formed part of her work packages. Another main focus of her work was the coordination of the concrete core and steel frame structure, as well as being responsible for the overall MEP coordination.
Catharin has previously worked on a new recital hall and sports pavilion for Wells Cathedral School in Somerset. Catharin worked throughout the tender stage on both buildings and was involved in all packages. Her main responsibilities were the design and coordination of the external cladding.
Other projects Catharin has worked on are a large residential development for the Athletes Village for the London Olympics, a new-build housing development consisting of six ten-storey blocks around a landscaped podium. Catharin worked on the external cladding package as well as internal packages during tender and construction stage.
