Eric Parry Drawing, Soane Museum

Eric Parry: Drawing was open to the public in Sir John Soane’s Museum from 20 February – 27 May 2019. The exhibition brings together a selection of hand drawings and notebooks, covering more than four decades of architectural observation, design and construction, which are to be found among the permanent Museum Collection as well as the Exhibition Galleries. In the Foyle Space, a short film by Dirk Lindner and Alex Morgan documents the life of a drawing for 4 Pancras Square from the drawing board to the completed building. In the Picture Room, two large photographic prints of 4 Pancras Square and Fen Court are on display, visible also from the Monk’s Parlour the floor below.

The exhibition was entirely designed by Eric Parry Architects, bringing together a selection of Eric Parry’s hand drawings and notebooks. The exhibits that were selected covered more than four decades of architectural observation, design and construction. The notebooks were accommodated in 5 bespoke display cabinets designed by Eric Parry Architects, which were placed among the permanent Museum Collection. Large hand drawings and sketches by Eric Parry were hung in the 2 Exhibition Galleries along with individual chapters of the book series on Eric Parry Architects, Volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4 to be consulted by the public.
