While our project for Damai Suria was under construction, Dawntree Properties commissioned a second scheme for a site nearby, still within the three-storey planning zone. Planning permission for Irigan Hijau was granted, but the development was put on hold during the regional financial crisis. Resumed in 2002, work developed gradually into this final proposal, where the two different plots come to be conjoined.
The design creates mixed-size apartments across the different buildings, which relate to one another through semi-enclosed garden areas and semi-interior communal spaces. In response to requirements for shade, privacy, and protection from monsoon downpour that is typical of the region, the façades are equipped with sun-shading devices at varying spacing, framing views into landscape foliage, the city centre of Kuala Lumpur, and the hills at Batu Caves.
