We were appointed to create a new spa and a rooftop extension in 2005. The spa is situated within a double-storied rooftop pavilion on the existing building, an area previously occupied by a plant room. The 1,893 sqm space houses a gym, early arrivals facility and a new plant room in addition to the treatment rooms, pool and other areas associated with the spa. Acclaimed sculptor Stephen Cox has produced fifteen pieces for the spa in Egyptian limestone and Indian granite. ‘The extraordinary and innovative addition of a new 10th floor is the crowning glory of the newly transformed hotel and a one-of-a-kind urban sanctuary in which guests can relax and rejuvenate.
The location itself sets it apart from anything else in the city with its unrivalled rooftop position and wow factor views over the treetops of London. Inspired by the adjacent parklands, Eric Parry has created a fluid and diaphanous environment that makes dramatic use of the natural materials that are indigenous to the area, brilliantly bringing the outdoors in and setting them against the stunning backdrop of the London skyline’- Four Seasons Regional Vice President and General Manager John Stauss.
